THE NUTRITON DIET.

The Nutrition Diet is what it says, a diet with nutrition as the main component.  But let's look at the diet part as that is the word that initially interests most people.  A lot of people want to use diet to lose weight.  A good aim if you are overweight, but diets that deprive you of certain foods or reduce your intake to a low level, while perhaps successful at the beginning, cannot be maintained forever.  YOUR BODY NEEDS FOOD.

Recent reports confirm what I have been saying here.  Dieting to lose weight only works long term if permanent changes are made to diet and lifestyle.  If losing weight is the intial goal that will only be achieved by eating less and exercising more - fewer calories in and more calories out.  The Nutrition Diet can achieve weight loss as well as provide a permanent healthy diet.  But as I have said diet and lifestyle changes are necessary.  But the way forward is to do a little at a time.  Small daily or weekly changes, introducing some of the ideas in The Nutrition Diet and gradually the changes build up and become permanent.

There is only one way to diet healthily and that is to adopt a lifelong diet that doesn't mean depriving yourself of food and possibly the nutrients you need for health.  It means change but the changes can be gradual and fit in with your lifestyle.

It is no good following a diet that cannot be used permanently.  That only leads to the ups and downs, literally, of weight loss - weight gain and at the same time health can be affected by the ups and downs.  So the aim is to get a diet and lifestyle that suits you and is permanent.  The Nutrition Diet can achieve this.

First some basics - which you probably know anyway but bear with me.  You can get more information and detail from my short book The Nutriton Diet by emailing your request for the book, free of charge.  For now the basics can get you started and help make some simple changes to diet and lifestyle which is an easy way to begin.

1.  EAT MORE FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.  Tip - use fruit for dessert instead of puddings and use fruit or nuts and seeds for snacks.

2.  REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF MEAT IN YOUR MEAL ESPECIALLY RED MEAT. Tip - take extra vegetables if necessary to compensate for less meat.

3.  DON'T EAT POTATOES, PASTA OR RICE WITH MEAT.  Tip - Replace potatoes etc with an extra vegetable.  (I can personally vouch for this as a means towards losing weight and it is one of the rules of Food Combining Diet, the only diet I personally would recommend.

4.  EAT POTATOES (when you want them) AS PART OF A VEGETARIAN MEAL.  Tip  -  Have a   baked potato with salad or stir fry vegetables.  A vegetarian meal also means less meat in the week.

5.  TRY AND MAKE SOME MEALS RAW FOOD MEALS!  They can be tasty with different flavours to cooked foods.  Take cauliflower for example, which has a completely different taste raw,  it is sweet and crunchy.

6.  INCLUDE BEANS CHICKPEAS AND LENTILS NUTS AND SEEDS.  Chickpeas and cucumber dressed with olive oil and blackpepper  makes a tasty addition to salad.

7.  EAT MORE OILY FISH.  Sardines, mackeral, herrings, salmon  - even a tin of sardines is full of omega 3 and calcium.

9.  REDUCE ALCOHOL AND COFFEE CONSUMPTION.

10. AVOID PROCESSED AND JUNK FOOD.

11. CUT OUT SUGAR AND SUGARY SNACKS AND FOODS.

12. TAKE MORE EXERCISE - even if it is only a brisk walk during your lunch break.

It sounds easy and straightforward and you have heard it all before, but it is never easy to change habits and routines but do a little at a time.  Take one number at a time and get used to the change.  Try not to be impatient and expect instant results.  The changes will be gradual but permanent.  The other thing to note is that if you change something like eating more fruit and vegetables instead of a mars bar for instance, your taste buds change and you actually enjoy the fruit or vegetable and the other foods your used to crave for lose their attraction.

More fruit and vegetables will ensure a good supply of nutrients.  Less red meat and junk processed food will mean less fat.
